Robert Morris women fall in NEC semifinals

Robert Morris (18-13) saw its season come to an end with a 61-56 loss at Sacred Heart (24-7) in the semifinals of the Northeast Conference championship.

Colonials junior Josette Campbell led all scorers with 20 points. She made 6 of 11 3-pointers and finished 7 of 13 overall.

Senior Mary Durojaye ended her Robert Morris career with a double-double, scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Briannica Tye also added 10 points for the Colonials.

NEC rookie of the year Gabrielle Washington had 18 points to lead Sacred Heart to the win at the William H. Pitt Center in Fairfield, Conn.

In the other Northeast Conference semifinal, Alysha Womack scored 21 points and had six rebounds to lead Monmouth (19-12) past Quinnipiac (22-9), 69-66, at the TD Bank Sports Arena in Hamden, Conn.

Other tournaments

• Summit League: Jill Young made the go-ahead free throws with 7.1 seconds left in overtime and South Dakota State (24-8) overcame a 17-point deficit to beat UMKC (22-11), 78-77, and win the championship.

• Sun Belt: Taylor Ford's layup with 11 seconds remaining in overtime sent Arkansas-Little Rock (20-12) to its third consecutive NCAA tournament with a 71-70 win against Middle Tennessee (26-6) in Hot Springs, Ark.
