The Penguins today recalled defenseman Brian Strait from their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton affiliate.

He is expected to replace defenseman Derk Engelland in the lineup for a game tonight against Phoenix at Consol Energy Center.

Engelland did not participate in the team's morning skate and is day-to-day because of an unspecified injury, coach Dan Bylsma said. Center Dustin Jeffrey was sent home from the arena and did not skate because he was running a 101-degree fever, Bylsma said.

Bylsma said defenseman Kris Letang, who has a suspected concussion, is being evaluated by doctors today.

Strait, 24, has played in two NHL games this season. With Wilkes-Barre, the defensive defenseman has 12 points in 34 games.
