Two firefighters battling a blaze in Jeannette were injured early Monday when the floor collapsed beneath them.

Capt. Chuck Miller said the fire was reported just before midnight Sunday at a building that houses a union hall and an apartment near Vine Street and Lowry Avenue. Two firefighters who entered the burning structure fell through the first floor, landing in the basement.

Firefighters were able to pull them out quickly. One had a strained neck and back, and the other suffered minor hand burns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
