CLASSES

CONCERTS

Greensburg -- The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, in cooperation with the Westmoreland Cultural Trust, will present "European Holiday," comprising Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and the Dvorak Cello Concerto and featuring Adam Liu, at 8 p.m. March 17 at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. DINING OUT

Hempfield -- Congregation Emanu-El Israel will sponsor its annual Taste of Westmoreland buffet at 6 p.m. Saturday in Chambers Hall on the Greensburg campus of the University of Pittsburgh, 150 Finoli Drive. Meals will be prepared by restaurant chefs and caterers in the county. Cost: $20 in advance, $22 at the door. Information: 724-837-8275.

LIBRARIES

MEETINGS

Murrysville -- Symphony East will meet at 11 a.m. March 19 at Redstone Highlands, 4951 Cline Hollow Road. Lunch will be at noon, followed by a program featuring opera singers Nicole Marie Gasse and Kyle Oliver accompanied by Raymond Blackwell. Families of home-schooled children invited. RELIGIOUS

Penn Hills -- St. Susanna Catholic Parish, 200 Stotler Road, will hold a parish mission with the theme, "Living in Union with the Heart of Jesus," at 7 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Wednesday and 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Speaker will be the Rev. Jim Kubicki, national director of the Apostleship of Prayer. He will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. Information: 412-798-3591.

TRIPS

Hempfield -- The Westmoreland County Historical Society will sponsor a trip March 26 to the Fort Pitt Museum in Downtown Pittsburgh and to the Kerr Memorial Museum in Oakmont. VOLUNTEERS

Unity/Hempfield -- The Westmoreland County Historical Society will hold training for volunteers interested in staffing Historic Hanna's Town from 9:30 to noon March 31 and April 14 and 21. The March 31 and April 14 sessions will be held at the society's office, Suite 1, 362 Sand Hill Road. The April 21 session will be at Historic Hanna's Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road. WORKSHOPS

Derry Township -- The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will sponsor a "Growing Up Wild" workshop for early childhood educators from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 24 at the Visitor Center in Keystone State Park, 1150 Keystone Park Road.
