Allegheny County police today charged a New Kensington driver with a string of crimes stemming from a fatal collision in Penn Hills last month.

Kayla Hoffman, 28, remains jailed on charges including homicide while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault by vehicle, fleeing and eluding police and drug possession in connection with the crash Feb. 18.

Police said they spotted her driving the wrong way on Robinson Boulevard before she collided with a car driven by Kayla Johnson-Ukeyne, 25, of Verona, who died at the scene. Police tried to stop Ms. Hoffman before the crash but she fled down Verona Road, swerving at times into oncoming traffic to pass cars.

Ms. Hoffman was also injured in the crash, as was her passenger, 42-year-old Tomarro Wade.
