Motorist killed in I-79 crash in Mercer County

An Erie man died when his car hit a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Mercer County today and flipped over several times.

State police said Craig L. Brown, 67, was driving south on the highway when he hit the railing near Exit 113 in Springfield shortly after 1 p.m. Mr. Brown, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead by Mercer County Coroner Robert Snyder, officials said.

His car was the only one involved in the crash. State police said they were still investigating the cause of the crash.
