17-year-old pedestrian killed on Interstate 79 in Butler County

A 17-year-old boy who had been standing in the middle of a southbound lane of Interstate 79 in Butler County early this morning died after he was struck by two tractor-trailers, state police reported.

KDKA-TV has reported that the teen, Joseph Barone, whose address was not released, was standing near the dashed white line in the right lane of travel in Lancaster Township at about 12:50 a.m. when he was struck by a tractor-trailer and thrown into the left lane of travel. At least one more truck struck the body, throwing it from the roadway, state police said.

The juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County Coroner's office at 4:04 a.m.
