TONIGHT

Winter Ovreture

For a new group, OvreArts already has made some good friends. The performing ensemble founded by composer Blake Ragghianti gives its second concert with dancer companies and a slew of new members.

"After the success of our inaugural concert this past September ... we have gone all out for this concert," says Mr. Ragghianti. "All new music composed specifically for the occasion will be featured by our 38-member OvreArts Sinfonia, the brand new OvreArts Chamber Singers and a host of soloists."

OvreArts has a strong focus on dance, and this concert will feature choreography by Alan Obuzor and Kelsey Bartman (of Texture Contemporary Ballet), and improvised jazz-dance (by Pearlann Porter and The Pillow Project). Not to mention puppets performed by Puppets for Pittsburgh.

Hosted by WQED's Ted Sohier, "A Winter OVREture" takes place at 8 tonight at Heinz Memorial Chapel. Free; www.ovrearts.org.

FRIDAY

'Trespass' trio

"Trespass," Future Tenant's annual performance residency, this year features three local groups, kicking off with the Pittsburgh trio Hunted Creatures. Ryan Emmett, Micah Pacileo and Amy Hoffmann describe themselves as an experimental music/sound/visual act.

Hunted Creatures opens at 7 p.m. Friday. You can learn more about the group and sample its recordings at huntedcreatures.bandcamp.com.

"Tresspass" also includes the Avant-garde Sandwiches (percussionist and Carnegie Mellon alumnus Mike Perdue and composer Matt Aelmore of the University of Pittsburgh) 7 p.m. Feb. 25, and the Lucky Puppets' "wild and racy" arcade-style show from 6 to 11 p.m. March 3. Future Tenant is a nonprofit Downtown art space at 819 Penn Ave.
