Two model homes in Cranberry will be featured on a new HGTV show airing 2:30 p.m. today.

"Showhouse Showdown" pits two designers working on newly built houses with identical floor plans and $130,000 budgets. They have seven days to finish, and visitors vote on which design is more appealing. The show's host is Bob Guiney from ABC's "The Bachelor." When the crew visited Mystic Ridge in August, local designer Alisha Gwen competed against design veteran Joe Berkowitz.

In a unique twist, viewers will be able to chat live with the designers while the show airs on www.hgtv.com. Anyone who participates in the chat will be entered to win an iPad.

Local residents will also get a chance to meet Mr. Guiney and the two designers during a second airing of the episode at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mystic Ridge model home. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the first 100 people will have a chance to win $25,000. Information: www.HeartlandCustomHomes.com.

"This is not like anything you have seen on HGTV before," said Kevin Oakley, director of marketing for Heartland Homes. "This is not just about picking paint colors and moving in furniture. These designers are involved with the house from day one of construction and have complete freedom to change whatever they want. Windows, walls, cabinets -- it's all up for grabs."

The rooms range from a kid-friendly family play room to a mood-setting master bedroom retreat, and they embody two very different creative visions.
